Michal makes films for women... Is he crazy?Filmy dla Kobiet poster

I'm not a saviour. I'm not here to liberate women. Nor am I trying to get myself enslaved. I'm here to help women and men to liberate themselves. It's an ongoing process and it won't get done unless we start helping each other to do it. Learning how to listen is key.Pointer

By getting myself to start listening to women, I want to give others a chance to do the same thing.

I've decided to export fine art handcrafted by women in Poland to America. High quality handcrafted art produced by high quality women deserves to be shared. The more I can sell stateside to people who know the difference, the more I can buy from those whose worthy hands to continue the fight for openness and equality, a fight that I've taken to the world wide web.

Your support ensures that films for women will make a difference.

When I arrived in Europe on the 20th of June, 2011, I had no plan and certainly no idea that by the end of the week I would be practicing photography with a woman I had never met, a naturist who had never before allowed herself to be photographed nude. It was the first of a whole series of firsts for the both of us.

As an artist, from the beginning of my adult career, my work had been devoted to the problem of body acceptance, a goal that I would later learn was shared by a whole community of people called naturists, a humble portion of which I discovered residing in Poland, a country whose cultural conservatism does not lend itself readily to forward thinking. One of those forward-thinking Polish naturists happened to be Margo.

I was American. Freshly arrived in Europe and the new owner of a '97 Ford Escort made in Germany. The only thing I had to complain about was the fact that the owner's manual was in German. She was from Poland, and a German-language owner's manual for a car bought in Poland wasn't the only thing she had to complain about. Something as small as that didn't even register.

Despite the cops in Vienna. Despite the rain in Veržej. Despite getting lost in Italy. Despite parting at Soest. Despite that night in Amsterdam. Despite our fight in Lisieux. Despite the storm in the Bois de la Roche. Despite that terrible morning outside Collonges. Despite the long road to Pielenhofen, we came back safe and sound and most importantly we were happy. We had started to learn how to listen. We had left the devils of the road behind and the devils ahead seemed just a little bit smaller. We had started to open up.

THE DISAPPEARING WOMAN, THE DISAPPEARING MAN...Pointer

a collection of modern art prints and posters

During our trip across Europe, Margo very bravely opened up to me and to the camera. It was a difficult thing to do considering the scars that she carries. I wanted to share with the world her often joyful, often sad, often angry but always liberating experience except that the Internet is full of pictures of naked women and men and full of trolls who abuse them.

I realized that what I really need to point out is not the openness that Margo and I cultivated between ourselves, but the darkness that continues to surround us. When I censor nudity, I do so in a way that does not compromise the integrity of the human body. In censoring the photographs that Margo and I took during our trip, I was quick to notice that in those pictures where Margo was at her most open, at her most unguarded and most relaxed, in a word, when she was herself and basking in the sun I was forced to blacken her completely.

Why does our society drive people into darkness? Why can we not accept ourselves as we are? Why can we not accept our bodies? Have we truly become eunuchs? Or are we capable of defying the sickness that pits us against each other? Together we could conquer the devils that abuse us.

Whether you enjoy being nude or not, whether you've been photographed nude or not, but especially if, for you, like for Margo, it's something you never thought you would do, consider submitting your own photograph to be published in a censored manner as a form of protest against the ubiquitous presence of the human body on the internet, naked or not, that is published and duplicated ad infinitum without context and without regard for the identity or the needs of the individual being depicted.

Michal's Dictionary:
All about Beautiful Woman

Capitalism describes a system of asset management which relies on the ownership of fuel.

To own something is to be responsible for it. That is to say, you have seniority over its management. To the extent that your management is not affecting the management of somebody else's fuel, nobody can force you to dispose of your fuel in a way you do not wish.

Seniority under the capitalist regime is generally recognized whenever somebody produces a fuel or is the first to claim possession of a naturally occurring fuel.

The problem with most fuels is that they produce fumes. Those fumes have a tendency to drift. When they drift into the possession of a man with very little fuel, and that man is a smart man, he will try to burn those fumes to make a living. Sometimes the man responsible for the original fuel has a problem with this. He think it infringes upon his seniority. He tends not to realize that by trying to contain the fumes he increases the likelihood of an explosion. This explosion is popularly called rebellion, revolution, crime, or terrorism, depending on the specific circumstances that are generated by the people who tend to consider other people primarily as fuels rather than as people. This tendency is not inherent to capitalism. It is a cultural choice passed down from one generation to the next. It is a choice you and I make on our own.

Appearance of Beautiful Woman in The Gospel of Jesus H.

A picture of the planet Mars

An experimental science fiction Christology that makes Jesus the hard boiled narrator of his own early years on a bizarro earth made dark by volcanic ash and informally ruled by a man from Mars who sells bottled air.

When your father's uncle began trying to hang himself, it was generally understood that 'it' was nearing an end. His wife wouldn't let him do it. She would yell and yell and yell until he came down. She was a foolish wife. Any real, self-respecting slutty bitch-whore would've left him a long time ago. She was really in love: she loved him! What a strange and beautiful woman she was.

Verse 368 from the chapter called Adolescence

"You're a very beautiful woman," I said.

"That's not what I mean."

"That's the truth."

She sighed. "No, it's not."

"You don't believe anything I say, do you?"

"Who are you?" she whispered.

Verses 511-516 from the chapter called Bohemia

"My mother's got the blues," your father would have to say, whenever anyone bothered to ask: "Hey, Jesus: where's your mother at?" It was never far from the truth: his mother was bedridden for most of her life. She was in fifty different sanitoriums as a child. Plagued by fatigue, there were days when she wouldn't even move: she would just lie there in the same position all day long, not moving a single muscle - not even to scratch. On the other hand, sometimes there were weeks or even months when she could work miracles. In those days, she could work all day long, cleaning houses for rich Jews in America, selling fancy rocks in the suburbs of Poland: "Flagstones! Get your flagstones!" I can imagine her yelling. I don't know, but I was told she would split those flags herself, loading them onto a truck she borrowed from a friend. What a strange and beautiful woman she was.

"Hey, Jesus: where's your mother at?"

Verses 45-46 from the chapter called Adolescence

Appearance of Beautiful Woman in Sex for Children

A drawing of a man between a woman's legs in front of another man in a hospital bed

A literature book narrated by a pair of siblings on either side of the Atlantic whose profoundly weird sexual experiences pose a serious challenge to their traditional understanding of mathematicians, marriage, gay young men and God.

What was going on? Was this procedure standard? For whom was he standing then? for himself? or someone else? Was that bastard Christian behind this or not? Was that beautiful woman behind those lights right now? Was this the only chance he'd have? "Number five can go." If number five goes, then what about four? Was this lineup for number two? Then where's his lawyer? Where's anybody's lawyer? But most importantly: where is number four's lawyer? Why hadn't he called anyone? Why must he be so arrogant? "Number four, step forward." It's true: he wasn't formally charged. In the States, that means no lawyer. But this was France. Why didn't he know French law better? "Step back, please." Why must he be so helpless? "Step back, number four." Nike fell to his knees. He brought his hands together in supplication. "Please," he said, "please, forgive me. I want to love you - do you hear me? I want to love you!" But there were people rushing and crowding around him.

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 3, The Third Day, Part 1, Family & Welfare Reform, Section 7, Surprising Oneself, Paragraph 4

"I'll keep holding him for a while," he said. But I did not see him: I couldn't see anything: there was total blackness. I could feel myself walking away. "In case you're worried he'll see you." Then I stopped. I felt myself turning, and the voice: it timorously said, "Pardon me?" Christian's voice replied: "I'll keep holding him, I said. So don't worry: he won't see you before you leave." But I was worried: I could feel the worry around me. It wasn't the kind that Christian was talking about. It wasn't anxious or anything. It was a calmer kind of worry: a serious and deliberate worry - more like, concern. "Thank you," said the voice, and, for a moment, in my dream, I thought I was the beautiful woman.

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 3, The Third Day, Part 1, Family & Welfare Reform, Section 7, Surprising Oneself, Paragraph 6

A whitetail deer soon to be caught in our headlights. Did she know we were hunting her? An innocent woman in the woods? How could she know? It was my dream; her nightmare. What was she to us? An image? A figure of a brave and beautiful woman? Vulnerable. What did she represent?

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 2, The Second Day, Part 1, Labor & Economic Reform, Section 22, Encountering Poverty, Paragraph 47

Where was she hiding in that great and hapless monarchy? Where was his queen? Why couldn't she come and join her king? These thoughts were hopeless. After two nights of aimless driving around Paris, Nike gave himself a sabbatical. Resting in his apartment, he kept thinking about that beautiful woman. He thought about her beautiful name. He thought about her missing tunic, her white cape, her guampe of serge. He thought about her linen wimple. Then, he would suddenly think of Luka and he would scream and beat his head. He would moan and stuff his face into a pillow.

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 5, The Fifth Day, Part 2, Science & Reform Schools, Section 10, Navigating the Socio-Political Spectrum, Paragraph 7

As he slowed his car to a stop, he removed a single cigarette from its package (a decision he would later regret) and, placing it between his lips, he exited his vehicle. Nike began smoking and pacing alongside his car. Meanwhile, the gendarmes were taking their time. From within their patrol car, they shot occasional glances at Nike, who began raising his brow. He was getting impatient. "At least the car's clean," he thought, having removed all incriminating evidence while cleaning it that morning. So Nike was unworried, but he was getting even more impatient. He was thinking about that beautiful woman. Who could she have been? he thought. Who could she have been? Then the police approached.

Appearance of Beautiful Woman in Tsiga Tsiga Tsiga

Bullets whizzing by a statue of Nikola Tesla

A collection of stories featuring a sexy Parisian ghost, a spooky Moon base full of vagina-faced aliens, a policeman with an Irish name, a truck full of watermelons, a flautist, and a man who has to see another man about a diseased horse.

All Patsy could think about was the young and beautiful woman who, before his very eyes, resembled the one who had dove into the water those many weeks ago. "Excuse me, Ms. Cartwright," said Patsy. "Do you happen to have a picture of your daughter naked?"

The woman was, naturally, flabbergasted. "I'm sorry," said Patsy. "Your daughter looks very familiar."

– from “A Cop Named Patsy,” a funny story featuring a frank discussion of the need for international cooperation

Patsy thought it was funny too. Morimoto explained that, due to his ignorance of grammar, it sounded as if he were saying, "Have your mother show me your genitals. You're a beautiful woman. It's time I saw you naked." Patsy denied he had any prior knowledge that "over there" was a euphemism for genitalia.

– from “A Cop Named Patsy,” a funny story featuring a cop with a sense of humor

"Clark," said Shephard. "Do you mind watching TV for a while? I have something I'd like to discuss with this young, beautiful woman. I promise I won't be long." Clark squinted. He didn't want to go in. Shephard beckoned. "Remember: play nicely. If you have any problems, I'll be in the next room." Clark was too confused to argue.

Shephard turned to Pepsi. "Why do these boys trust you? What's your secret?"

– from “Two Dudes and a Chinese Desert,” a friendship story set in a place most people haven't heard of

She was a whitetail deer about to be caught once again in our headlights. Had she any idea we were stalking her-an innocent woman in the woods-what could she know? It was my dream; her nightmare. What was she to me? An image? A figure of a brave and beautiful woman? Vulnerability personified?

– from “Paris Is For Rapists, Too,” a ghost story featuring a frank discussion of sex work

Detective Morimoto's wife and daughter were lovely people. They asked him what he was doing in Japan. He tried to explain with his pocket dictionary that, "Over there," meaning America, "I was shown, by a mother, a beautiful woman whom I saw myself naked." They both giggled until they turned beet-red.

– from “A Cop Named Patsy,” a funny story featuring a cop who takes his work seriously but still like to joke around

Appearance of Beautiful Woman in Miscellaneous Dingbats

The title of the book at the end of a string of miscellaneous dingbats

A story book full of short fiction stories. An interesting bedtime mystery. A fairy tale. Science fiction romance. Adult life. Uninspiring gay fiction. Horror.

Part of me wished there had been somebody there to witness the whole thing. To back me up. All anybody saw was my knife in her heart. Me holding her in my arms. I would've put me on trial too. Now that I'm safe I can safely say I'm glad I was the only one. It was horrible. I wouldn't wish that scene on anybody. My sister was miserable. She died miserably. I'm thankful I was the only who had to see it. The only one who had to watch that beautiful woman die.

– from “The Testament of Publio Orazio,” a horror story without that much killing coming straight out of Roman mythology

Indiana consoled me. "They are teasing you, Johanna. You are a beautiful woman. You have plenty of boys admiring you - I'm sure."

"It's what she doesn't do with them that counts," said Mother.

– from “St. Andrew's Eve,” a story of love that may ease one's sense of distaste depending on your outlook

Still Life, Patriarchy

Contemporary wall art to remind us that Father always says Father knows best
