Help Replace Insult With Truth in ArtOne of Margo's pictures from our trip across Europe.

Strength and dignity are her clothing...

Proverbs 31:25

Author's Note: I have been enjoined from sharing the details of my true romance adventure until such time that the other party is prepared to present her perspective on the affair arrangement...Pointer

In June of 2011 I arrived in Europe for what I hoped would be a great adventure; my only concrete plan, to visit Croatia. By September I had driven 6,000 miles and visited 12 different countries, all with a woman I met on the first Friday of my trip.

I knew naturism was popular in many parts of Europe and as an artist who had worked on body acceptance for his entire career I was keen on documenting some small part of it. Lo and behold, I found a very important part of it hiding in Poland. Her name was Margo.

I considered myself young and able, and being American I often convinced myself I was more than able. She didn't feel quite so young. Having grown up in Poland, what was and is still considered by many to be a poor country, she had the added burden of not only being disadvantaged but having it held against her. The difference became palpable when I realized I couldn't even properly translate into Polish the very American word, "opportunity." A chance? Sure. An occasion? Why not? An opportunity? Not in the book.

6,000 miles. One car. One tent. We started learning how to listen. We started learning how to open up. We started cooperating. Even when we were angry, even when it was so difficult that it didn't seem like it would turn out well, we stuck it out. We completed the trip and we came back happy. We had beaten the devil on the road. Back home more devils were waiting to abuse us. More anger. More fear. More sadness. This time we were prepared. This time we had each other and we could harken back to the joy and the trust and the suprise that 6,000 miles had created. We could remember what it was like to live in one tent.

One of Margo's pictures from our trip across Europe.

During our trip across Europe, Margo very bravely opened up to me and to the camera. It was a difficult thing to do considering the scars that she carries. I wanted to share with the world her often joyful, often sad, often angry but always liberating experience except that the Internet is full of pictures of naked women and men and full of trolls who abuse them.

I realized that what I really need to point out is not the openness that Margo and I cultivated between ourselves, but the darkness that continues to surround us. When I censor nudity, I do so in a way that does not compromise the integrity of the human body. In censoring the photographs that Margo and I took during our trip, I was quick to notice that in those pictures where Margo was at her most open, at her most unguarded and most relaxed, in a word, when she was herself and basking in the sun I was forced to blacken her completely.

Why does our society drive people into darkness? Why can we not accept ourselves as we are? Why can we not accept our bodies? Have we truly become eunuchs? Or are we capable of defying the sickness that pits us against each other? Together we could conquer the devils that abuse us.

Whether you enjoy being nude or not, whether you've been photographed nude or not, but especially if, for you, like for Margo, it's something you never thought you would do, consider submitting your own photograph to be published in a censored manner as a form of protest against the ubiquitous presence of the human body on the internet, naked or not, that is published and duplicated ad infinitum without context and without regard for the identity or the needs of the individual being depicted.

Michal's Dictionary:
All about The State

Capitalism describes a system of asset management which relies on the ownership of fuel.

To own something is to be responsible for it. That is to say, you have seniority over its management. To the extent that your management is not affecting the management of somebody else's fuel, nobody can force you to dispose of your fuel in a way you do not wish.

Seniority under the capitalist regime is generally recognized whenever somebody produces a fuel or is the first to claim possession of a naturally occurring fuel.

The problem with most fuels is that they produce fumes. Those fumes have a tendency to drift. When they drift into the possession of a man with very little fuel, and that man is a smart man, he will try to burn those fumes to make a living. Sometimes the man responsible for the original fuel has a problem with this. He think it infringes upon his seniority. He tends not to realize that by trying to contain the fumes he increases the likelihood of an explosion. This explosion is popularly called rebellion, revolution, crime, or terrorism, depending on the specific circumstances that are generated by the people who tend to consider other people primarily as fuels rather than as people. This tendency is not inherent to capitalism. It is a cultural choice passed down from one generation to the next. It is a choice you and I make on our own.

Appearance of The State in The Gospel of Jesus H.

A picture of the planet Mars

An experimental science fiction Christology that makes Jesus the hard boiled narrator of his own early years on a bizarro earth made dark by volcanic ash and informally ruled by a man from Mars who sells bottled air.

"Not since I was back in the States," I said, turning and smiling at the very attractive schwester. "That was a very, very long time ago." She didn't understand Polish though; she smiled, embarrassed.

Verse 257 from the chapter called Bohemia

STATUS QUO ANTE BELLUM. Latin. Foreign term: the state existing before the war.

Verse 26 from the chapter called Adolescence

Because the state held a controlling interest in the country's largest petroleum dealer, the ruling government (the Prime Minister and his colleagues), were ultimately in control of its actions. When the chairman of its board was about to sign a certain agreement with a certain company registered in Cyprus (a known tax haven) and controlled by two naturalized Polish citizens, the Office of the Protection of the State arrested him before he could do it. It turned out the two naturalized Polish citizens were two Ukrainians who claimed to be former musicians, who had married Polish wives, and who had founded their company with five thousand dollars in start-up capital, a company which now monopolized Poland's national oil supplies because the ruling party (the party of the Prime Minister and the President) had appointed a new chairman of the board who immediately signed the agreement that the former chairman of the board had been prevented from doing. It was all very, very suspicious.

Verse 308 from the chapter called Adolescence

I remembered one time when a younger Jesus had expressed his fears that someone might break into his father's apartment and steal his books. "That's never happened," his uncle had said. "Someone breaking into a poor man's apartment building and climbing three flights of stairs? To steal his books? Never happened - not in Poland. Maybe in the States, but: I doubt it."

Verse 592 from the chapter called Adolescence

When they reached the cemetery, Jesus turned to Zoe and said, "I would offer you a room at my grandmother's house, but, unfortunately, it belongs to the State Treasury now."

Verse 607 from the chapter called Security

Appearance of The State in Sex for Children

A drawing of a man between a woman's legs in front of another man in a hospital bed

A literature book narrated by a pair of siblings on either side of the Atlantic whose profoundly weird sexual experiences pose a serious challenge to their traditional understanding of mathematicians, marriage, gay young men and God.

But when we consider this transitive aspect of love, we can find two things that are distinguished by it. These two things are affection and attachment. Both of them are associated with love - but affection is intransitive: it is the state of being affected by one's feelings, whereas attachment is a transitive thing: it affects not only one's self but someone else, since attachment is the connection felt by two affected persons.

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 7, The Seventh Day, Part 1, Strength & Security Sector Reform, Section 2, Facing a Choice, Paragraph 8

Now there is a question: he may have returned because he was wanting, and of all the many attractions he had ever seen, Nike was trying to relocate the one that most appealed, or, on the other hand, he may have returned because he felt compelled, not by the calculus of his own pleasure, but by a deeper need incapable of description, which Nike could otherwise have ignored, but, having chosen to pursue, was finding himself made uncomfortable, perhaps by the very idea that he must be blindly compelled: in this case, not for any obvious reason, such as lust or curiosity, but by a reasonless reason: that is, Nike was aware that he was pursuing not a physical object (not the woman), but rather a status: the state of being near the woman, having the woman close to him. He was aware of this truth because he knew that if he were, in fact, successful at finding the woman, he would not know what to do with her. This terrified him.

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 3, The Third Day, Part 1, Family & Welfare Reform, Section 2, Understanding Physical Desire, Paragraph 4

Is it a person's right to participate simply because the participants receive privileges? There is something perplexing about that. It's also strange that the court interprets the protection of the traditional family as equivalent to actively increasing the number of people who choose to belong to such families, and that because the state cannot prove it could increase those numbers, it has no rational reason to protect that tradition. Can you figure that one out? I urge you to read the argument: perhaps you can decipher some sensibility in all that garbage.

– Title 2, Regarding the Romaniac, Part 1, Section 18, The Role of the Judicious Mind, Paragraph 4

If anyone is capable of withstanding Nike's will to power, then Luka is a likely candidate. But who knows? Perhaps Nike has already imposed the authority invested in him by the state of his own personality: perhaps he already has Luka wrapped around his little finger. I suppose it depends not only on the type of person Luka is, but on the type of relationship that defines his marriage to Nike's cousin, who is not only the most important link between them, but who is - I'm sure, as a matter of course - completely, or at least, somewhat completely, under the influence of Nike.

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 2, The Second Day, Part 1, Labor & Economic Reform, Section 3, Comparing Men, Paragraph 8

In reaching their conclusion they have given full deference to their egoism, and history must yield to a more fully developed understanding of the invidious quality of their absurdity - because I do not know how they can identify the privileges bestowed by the State on participants in a civic institution (marriage) as concrete reasons for that participation to be acknowledged as a civil right.

– Title 2, Regarding the Romaniac, Part 1, Section 17, The Role of the Judicious Mind, Paragraph 3, Clauses 3-4

The visitor smiled. He had seen this attitude before. Wherever Shephard went, he left behind a trail of scorned women. They always refused to disguise their spite. He explained he was an old friend.

Appearance of The State in Miscellaneous Dingbats

The title of the book at the end of a string of miscellaneous dingbats

A story book full of short fiction stories. An interesting bedtime mystery. A fairy tale. Science fiction romance. Adult life. Uninspiring gay fiction. Horror.

Some not so unattractive female cousins of mine took me to see a movie. I got excited when I got to the theatre. Instead of popcorn and soda the bar was selling pickled peppers and beer. They even had cocktails. The movie was less suprising. It was an American comedy that was released in the States at least a year and a half earlier. I was glad there was no dubbing. Just subtitles. Until I started watching and I realized I was laughing at the jokes a full five seconds before anybody else. If at all. I was supremely embarrassed once again. Until the cocktails kicked in.

– from “The Most Idiotic Actress,” a fictional story based on real life as related to the author

The Astrazeneca were confused. They started shaking their humongous heads. Some said, "This is truth?" They raised the tone at the end of the statement as if it were a question. Others said, "This is false." It sounded as if they wanted to believe it but they weren't sure. It was a disaster.

The interviewer asked, "Are you a Wiki-en?"

– from “The Death and Life of Captain Orbitz,” a science fiction romance inspired by Stanislaw Lem, if you know who that is

"My English is good. That's true. I went to school here in the States."

Indiana smiled. "I mean to say you speak with a clarity of purpose."

Nike feigned offense. "Are you saying I have an accent?"

"Not as bad as mine."

"Your accent is beautiful."

"You should hear me speak French."

"You should hear me speak Hungarian."

Indiana laughed. "My language is difficult."

"You'll have to teach me."

"It takes practice."

– from “St. Andrew's Eve,” a story of love that might ease one's fears depending on your outlook

Love is the answer...

What are we waiting for? Let's accept it!

Are you a eunuch?

The art show that defies abuse

St. Sebastian

Wall art symbolizing strength and protest

St. Sebastian was a member of the Roman Emperor's praetorian guard who had the audacity to teach Christian values while on the job. I think active duty American military men and women who don't vote or who don't publicly express a political opinion because of the uniform are either being idiotic or are being cowed by the threat of punishment from a superior. Either way, they're eunuchs. My purpose in creating the St. Sebastian Series is to put the flesh and face of the true soldier front and center. The good soldier puts his mission ahead of himself. He often ends up dead. The true soldier knows a bad mission when he sees one and he isn't afraid to say it. Saint Sebastian was not a cow, despite what clever people would have you believe. Saint Sebastian is a patron saint for all protestors who face the arrows of the mob for speaking out.
