Understanding the world from all angles...

Help End Hazing With ArtOne of Margo's pictures from our trip across Europe.

Strength and dignity are her clothing...

Proverbs 31:25

Author's Note: I have been enjoined from sharing the details of my true romance adventure until such time that the other party is prepared to present her perspective on the affair arrangement...Pointer

Lots of people go on road trips. Not everybody criss-crosses Europe in 46 days. Especially not with a complete stranger.

I knew naturism was popular in many parts of Europe and as an artist who had worked on body acceptance for his entire career I was keen on documenting some small part of it. Lo and behold, I found a very important part of it hiding in Poland. Her name was Margo.

As an American, I was full of optimism and confidence bordering on recklessness. I was ready to run the wheels off the car I had just bought and eventually I would. As a European, she was cautious and mistrustful. She needed to make sure the air conditioner worked. Which it did. If you knew how to turn the broken knob in just the right way.

As far apart culturally as we may have been, we spent 6,000 miles in one car. We spent over 40 nights in one tent. We started learning how to listen to each other. We started learning how to accept our differences and how to let them help us instead of driving us apart. Slowly but surely, we started learning how to beat the devils that abuse us.

One of Margo's pictures from our trip across Europe.

a collection of modern art prints and posters

During our trip across Europe, Margo very bravely opened up to me and to the camera. It was a difficult thing to do considering the scars that she carries. I wanted to share with the world her often joyful, often sad, often angry but always liberating experience except that the Internet is full of pictures of naked women and men and full of trolls who abuse them.

I realized that what I really need to point out is not the openness that Margo and I cultivated between ourselves, but the darkness that continues to surround us. When I censor nudity, I do so in a way that does not compromise the integrity of the human body. In censoring the photographs that Margo and I took during our trip, I was quick to notice that in those pictures where Margo was at her most open, at her most unguarded and most relaxed, in a word, when she was herself and basking in the sun I was forced to blacken her completely.

Why does our society drive people into darkness? Why can we not accept ourselves as we are? Why can we not accept our bodies? Have we truly become eunuchs? Or are we capable of defying the sickness that pits us against each other? Together we could conquer the devils that abuse us.

Whether you enjoy being nude or not, whether you've been photographed nude or not, but especially if, for you, like for Margo, it's something you never thought you would do, consider submitting your own photograph to be published in a censored manner as a form of protest against the ubiquitous presence of the human body on the internet, naked or not, that is published and duplicated ad infinitum without context and without regard for the identity or the needs of the individual being depicted.

Michal's Dictionary:
Adam & Steve

Capitalism describes a system of asset management which relies on the ownership of fuel.

Capitialism is itself a feul that somebody needs to own.

To own something is to be responsible for it. When a man disassociates himself from capitalism he is not only choosing not to assume any responsibility over it, he is depriving himself of a very valuable fuel. He isn't burning it.

When people stop burning fuel, the economy grows cold and shrinks. The more people start to accept capitalism, the sonner they can start to learn how to burn fuel responsibly.

Appearance of Adam & Steve in The Gospel of Jesus H.

A picture of the planet Mars

An experimental science fiction Christology that makes Jesus the hard boiled narrator of his own early years on a bizarro earth made dark by volcanic ash and informally ruled by a man from Mars who sells bottled air.

When we got to Hradec, it turned out there was something wrong with the musical instruments. The conductor was adamant.

Verse 212 from the chapter called Bohemia

There was petty corruption as well. In Treblinka, while his father's mother was still alive, which wasn't for very long, Jesus used her retirement pension for groceries. One day, after buying half a kilogram of poultry meat and half a kilogram of ham, Jesus found out, using his own electronic balance, that he was in possession, not of a kilogram of meat, but of only eighty-four dekagrams. He had been robbed of eight dekagrams each. Not only that, but every single person who went into that store and bought meat was being robbed of eight dekagrams for every half a kilogram he thought he was buying. When he went to the store, they reimbursed him for the missing dekagrams, but they insisted very adamantly that their scales were good. "Bullshit," said Jesus, but there was nothing else that he was prepared or willing to do.

Verse 309 from the chapter called Adolescence

"Fake" hand-tinted photographs were everywhere: a whole system of underground painters worked day and night to fake old painting. Most of the middle class had "fakes," but if you were a Capitalist - or from a Capitalist family - and you possessed a "fake," you were liable to be disgraced. Your grandmother once happened to find a "fake" in her collection; it caused a great scandal. It even made the front-page news on a day when thirty Union soldiers from France were killed in a terrorist attack on Bremen's Town Hall. The shame of the whole affair was tempered somewhat by the fact that your grandmother made the announcement herself, took full responsibility for the outrageous tragedy, and refused, out of sheer kindness, to identify the seller, who, being a rich and respectable and therefore presumably innocent young man, had been duped, according to Madame Panzer-Tank's English-language publicists, by some terribly ambitious (and yet, terribly talented) underground and (as yet) underappreciated artist.

Verse 16 from the chapter called Childhood

Appearance of Adam & Steve in Sex for Children

A drawing of a man between a woman's legs in front of another man in a hospital bed

A literature book narrated by a pair of siblings on either side of the Atlantic whose profoundly weird sexual experiences pose a serious challenge to their traditional understanding of mathematicians, marriage, gay young men and God.

BIT: If you want to find a nun, then get thee to a nunnery! Ah!

NIKE: What? Man, this is bullshit.

MAN: Madame! Madame! The police are at the door. They say they have a search warrant.

BIT: What?

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 5, The Fifth Day, Part 2, Science & Reform Schools, Section 16, Determining Shock Value, Paragraphs 80-83

NIKE: What do I mean? I mean: who is better than you, Madame?

BIT: We will tell you - but first you must do something for us.

NIKE: What's that?

BIT: You must find our clitoris!

NIKE: What?

BIT: You must find our precious clitoris!

NIKE: You mean her clit?

BIT: Yes: our precious.

NIKE: Ha! That would take a million years.

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 5, The Fifth Day, Part 2, Science & Reform Schools, Section 16, Determining Shock Value, Paragraphs 47-55

"Madame," I said, "your servant awaits," giving her a short bow.

"Will you play the first scherzo for me?" she asked. Then she devilishly smiled.

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 3, The Third Day, Part 2, Prayer & The Reformation, Section 13, The Role of Music, Paragraphs 1-2

NIKE: Alright! Madam: have you ever heard of a woman named Basha?

BIT: What's it to you?

NIKE: She claims that she worked for your excellency.

BIT: So what?

NIKE: So I need to know if it's true.

BIT: You don't need to know anything.

– Title 3, Regarding a Dream, Chapter 5, The Fifth Day, Part 2, Science & Reform Schools, Section 16, Determining Shock Value, Paragraphs 9-14

"Of course, Madame: with pleasure." I gave her another short bow and then I left. I made my way through the kitchen. I entered the drawing room and saw the piano to my left, sitting in its familiar corner.

Appearance of Adam & Steve in Sorry Ms. Jackson

Chiseled letters from an ancient stone tablet hanging on a wall

A real play. With drama in it. Talk fast. It takes two hours. Set in a guest house. In a small community. After a murder. Lots of suspicion. The characters learn to listen to each other. It's funny.

(MS. JACKSON enters.)

MS. JACKSON: How is lunch, dear?

KOKOMO: Coming, madam.

– ACT I, lines 4-5

(MS. JACKSON exits.)

KOKOMO: Oh, bittersweet news! That I might have my mistress's blessing to wed her son - her firstborn and only son: her pride and joy - and make a Catholic out of a Christian, when she knows her line - her ancient English stock - would rest entirely in my womb, fills me with great joy; but since that stock, if Madam's fears be true, is filled with an urge to plant one's seed in every jar and hole - to roam rakishly over the countryside regardless of warmth at home - I must gird myself to the possibility that my loins will not be enough: that fear of the yoke will upset my plan to reveal with success this very night my feelings to my beloved Fletcher!

– ACT II, line 28

Appearance of Adam & Steve in Miscellaneous Dingbats

The title of the book at the end of a string of miscellaneous dingbats

A story book full of short fiction stories. An interesting bedtime mystery. A fairy tale. Science fiction romance. Adult life. Uninspiring gay fiction. Horror.

Adam was gay. The intimacy of his relationship with Steve O was sending him the wrong signals. Especially when Steve O was really drunk and wielding his naked balls like a pair of nunchunks. Adam decided to try respectfully to step things up. The results were disastrous. As soon as Steve O realized what Adam's hand was doing and where his lips were, he basically borrowed the strength of ten men to heave him up and out of the room. The friendship suffered.

– from “A Finger Up The Bum,” a gay fiction story that isn't trying to win an award, but what you make of it is up to you

The comment caused Adam to giggle. Which made Steve O giggle. Which made Adam laugh. Which made the groom shrug. Which made Steve O laugh. Which made the groom giggle. Which made the minister wonder what the hell was going on.

– from “A Finger Up The Bum,” a gay fiction story that should be taken lightly, but what you make of it is up to you

Adam was the Patroclus to Steve O's Achilles. In more ways than Steve O realized. A fellow classmate and womanizer had asked Steve O to his face one day, "You know that guy's gay, right?" Steve O had been incredulous. With the image of Adam and the redhead scarred into his mind, he adamantly defended his friend's womanizing skills. "You have no idea what you're talking about," Steve O had said, viscerally upset.

– from “A Finger Up The Bum,” a gay fiction story that nobody should think twice about, but what you make of it is up to you

Steve O was picked up at the airport. He was treated to dinner. He was taken to see the view from Mulholland Drive. He was having a blast. He insisted on taking Adam out to a nightclub. For gays. Adam didn't like it. The harder he tried to look like he was having fun, the more Steve O could tell things were uncomfortable. He offered to call it a night. Adam invited him to stay at his house. Steve O demurred. Adam chose not to insist. Steve O ended up at the hotel.

– from “A Finger Up The Bum,” a gay fiction story that should be taken lightly, but what you make of it is up to you

On the third date, although Steve O didn't like to call it that, he made a point of asking about Adam's house. Adam told him it was being fumigated. On the fourth date there was a gas leak. Steve O began to suspect that either Adam was hiding a homeless man in his house or he was in fact homeless.

Steve O learned the truth on the fifth date. Adam brought Steve O home. He introduced him to his fiance. He was marrying a man. The invitations had been sent out. Months ago.

– from “A Finger Up The Bum,” a gay fiction story that nobody should think twice about, but what you make of it is up to you

The Body Acceptance Calendar

A really good idea for a monthly calendar

If a 45-year-old businesswoman and hard working mother of three kids is going to pose nude for a calendar, it's gonna have to be a good one. Margo didn't start a coffee shop called the Vagina Cafe to win her favors from the establishment. Even as she dishes out prizes to the 20 women who placed last in the twentienth anniversary run of her town's biggest road race, her business, unlike everyone else, doesn't get mentioned. She was an official sponsor for Christ's sake! But the announcer just couldn't swallow his patriarchy and get the words "Vagina Cafe" out of his mouth. That's not something a proper gentleman would say in front of a crowd of humble God-fearing "ladies" who cherish their modesty! And a Body Acceptance Calendar is certainly not what a humble God-fearing book-seller like a Barnes and Noble would put on their shelves! So how do I expect to sell this in the mainstream? Maybe if you download the free versions a thousand billion times it might help. Start downloading.
