Understanding the world from all angles...

Help Replace Insult With Truth in ArtOne of Margo's pictures from our trip across Europe.

Strength and dignity are her clothing...

Proverbs 31:25

Author's Note: I have been enjoined from sharing the details of my true romance adventure until such time that the other party is prepared to present her perspective on the affair arrangement...Pointer

One week after arriving in Europe, I met a woman in the sauna on the ground floor of the large villa she shared with her ex-husband. Four weeks later she was sharing a small rain-soaked tent with me in Vienna, our little gas-fired stove barely capable of boiling a cup of water. It wasn't until we reached Croatia that we decided to invest in a large electric kettle. It was quite the luxury and it made me very happy.

I had come to Europe to document people practicing naturism. Preliminary arrangements had been made to meet with an Egyptian nudist visiting the Continent and there was some kind of Pan-European gathering scheduled to take place in Croatia. I had arranged for an assistant to come along with me to help with anything I needed, but when her passport was stolen the night before we were supposed to leave, my plans went awry. I decided on something less ambitious. I would visit a naturist sauna in the city of Bielsko-Biala, Poland which I had just found on the internet. When I got there, I met Margo.

I was American. Freshly arrived in Europe and the new owner of a '97 Ford Escort made in Germany. The only thing I had to complain about was the fact that the owner's manual was in German. She was from Poland, and a German-language owner's manual for a car bought in Poland wasn't the only thing she had to complain about. Something as small as that didn't even register.

Do unto others as you would have done unto you. But how to judge what we would want done to us if we've never been in somebody else's shoes? If we've never been abandoned by our mother, how do we treat somebody who has? Somebody who seems to constantly suffer the repurcussions of it? Margo and I had 46 days and 6,000 miles to try on each other's shoes. We had one car and one tent in which to hear each other's words. We learned to cooperate. We started learning how to listen.

One of Margo's pictures from our trip across Europe.

During our trip across Europe, Margo very bravely opened up to me and to the camera. It was a difficult thing to do considering the scars that she carries. I wanted to share with the world her often joyful, often sad, often angry but always liberating experience except that the Internet is full of pictures of naked women and men and full of trolls who abuse them.

I realized that what I really need to point out is not the openness that Margo and I cultivated between ourselves, but the darkness that continues to surround us. When I censor nudity, I do so in a way that does not compromise the integrity of the human body. In censoring the photographs that Margo and I took during our trip, I was quick to notice that in those pictures where Margo was at her most open, at her most unguarded and most relaxed, in a word, when she was herself and basking in the sun I was forced to blacken her completely.

Why does our society drive people into darkness? Why can we not accept ourselves as we are? Why can we not accept our bodies? Have we truly become eunuchs? Or are we capable of defying the sickness that pits us against each other? Together we could conquer the devils that abuse us.

Whether you enjoy being nude or not, whether you've been photographed nude or not, but especially if, for you, like for Margo, it's something you never thought you would do, consider submitting your own photograph to be published in a censored manner as a form of protest against the ubiquitous presence of the human body on the internet, naked or not, that is published and duplicated ad infinitum without context and without regard for the identity or the needs of the individual being depicted.

Michal's Dictionary:
All about Luke

Capitalism describes a system of asset management which relies on the ownership of fuel.

Capitialism is itself a feul that somebody needs to own.

To own something is to be responsible for it. When a man disassociates himself from capitalism he is not only choosing not to assume any responsibility over it, he is depriving himself of a very valuable fuel. He isn't burning it.

When people stop burning fuel, the economy grows cold and shrinks. The more people start to accept capitalism, the sonner they can start to learn how to burn fuel responsibly.

Appearance of Luke in The Gospel of Jesus H.

A picture of the planet Mars

An experimental science fiction Christology that makes Jesus the hard boiled narrator of his own early years on a bizarro earth made dark by volcanic ash and informally ruled by a man from Mars who sells bottled air.

The following year, when Sapper came to visit, this trend was evident. Jesus had cultivated a certain image in that particular neighborhood in which he found himself that year. By a strange fluke, he was friendly with the local drug dealer, who had been expelled from Jesus's old school a few months after Jesus had left it. They found themselves in the same neighborhood again, and, whereas before they had hardly known each other, now they had something in common. Jesus kept his distance, of course, but it was good to be on friendly terms with a local drug dealer - if only for effect. Your father also assaulted a local black boy whose mother was white - I don't remember the reason, but the attack was successful and therefore good for image. Your father was himself assaulted by some sort of Indian boy, but he was small and therefore his attack was more confusing than painful - Jesus was able to insult him for it.

Verse 235 from the chapter called Childhood

Was it a miracle? or the Devil? Divine justice? or temptation? Was it a gift? or a test? Divine mercy? Providence? Was it a fluke? What was it? What made that man's bladder contract?

Verse 617 from the chapter called Adolescence

Without license to buy more weapons, Jesus had to be very stingy. Not till he signed on with SECURITA did Jesus gain the privilege, thanks to that security firm's contract, of being able to buy whatever he wanted (which the firm even tried to subsidize, but Jesus, more often than not, paid from his own pocket, which prevented his so-called superiors from requisitioning his equipment). In fact, it was during his first few months of tenure with SECURITA that Jesus found Baron Cohen-Krupnik with bullets in his head. Through a fluke, he was the first one to arrive at the crime scene. The landlord who had rented Baron the apartment also happened to be an old friend of Stalin's. Jesus was able to take photographs, which he later used to convince your mother, Zoe Guderian, that her fiancé's family was not up to snuff, not that she ever thought they were (for various reasons), but, after seeing poor Baron with bulletholes in his head (someone she had once had the displeasure of socializing with), she was convinced, despite her better judgment, to continue her relationship with Sacha Cohen-Krupnik, just so she could spy for your father, which she did, with painstaking effort, going so far as to marry the bastard, which your father deeply regretted.

Verse 420 from the chapter called Arms

Appearance of Luke in Sex for Children

A drawing of a man between a woman's legs in front of another man in a hospital bed

A literature book narrated by a pair of siblings on either side of the Atlantic whose profoundly weird sexual experiences pose a serious challenge to their traditional understanding of mathematicians, marriage, gay young men and God.

I have three people to blame; I'm going to start with Luke: he was responsible for my living arrangements. Having moved into Nike's townhouse on Prospect Street, and not planning to share it with any other lodgers, Luke had the pick of three bedrooms: one on the ground floor, one on the second floor, and Nike's old bedroom on the top floor. Luke wisely chose the middle bedroom, the only one that stays warm in the winter. Now Nike had been visiting for a few days, and, since he comes to visit so often, he has taken to leaving his junk all over the upstairs bedroom. When I arrived, Luke was sorry to inform me that I would be sleeping on the ground floor, in Macy's old bedroom, which hadn't been heated since Macy last slept there (and Luke couldn't remember when that was). Nike was leaving that night, so I was free to use the radiator; up I jumped, running upstairs to steal it, knowing exactly how cold Macy's room could get.

– Title 2, Regarding the Romaniac, Part 1, Section 8, Loneliness, Paragraph 6

It was the most garish thing I had seen in quite a long while, but we were at Vinnie's, and all the loudest customers seemed to be enjoying it. In fact, someone enjoyed it so much, he offered two hundred and five dollars for the first one, who was by far the more attractive. The other one wasn't too shabby, and she received a winning bid of a hundred and seventy-five. No one before them had broken a hundred, and I was worried that Barbara would be disappointed. Not that I should've been worried, because everyone was well on his way to being wasted, and the whole thing was ridiculous anyway. But I was worried nonetheless, and I told Luke to be prepared.

– Title 2, Regarding the Romaniac, Part 1, Section 7, Dating a Woman with Dogs, Paragraph 4

While we were talking, a girl came up to Luke and asked him if he had brought his tape recorder; he said he had brought it, and he began looking for it. I asked her what the tape recorder was for and she said for her psychology class, explaining that her project involved tape recording group conversations.

– Title 1, Regarding Peaches and Bananas, Part 2, Section 8, Partying with Intellectuals, Paragraph 2, Clauses 4-6

By then, our Nike had reestablished himself with dearest alma mater. Several times I paid a visit to his house on Prospect Street, but only before he invited Macy to live with him. I heard about that from Luke, when we were discussing his own return to campus. At that point, I knew I could not escape the inevitable reunion; I spent many a day in agonizing self-reflection.

– Title 1, Regarding Peaches and Bananas, Part 2, Section 7, Trying to Kiss, Paragraph 15

In the end, what really mattered was having her older friends fawn. Except Luke, of course - he doesn't count.

– Title 2, Regarding the Romaniac, Part 1, Section 7, Dating a Woman with Dogs, Paragraph 2, Clauses 5-7

Still Life, Patriarchy

Contemporary wall art to remind us that Father always says Father knows best

To promote democracy, the strong must empty themselves of their strength. The weak must be granted the opportunity to grow strong. We cannot force the end of patriarchy. To do so simply perpetuates feudalism under a different name.
